South Hammond Station

Neighborhood Plan

The City of Hammond is creating a South Hammond Station Neighborhood Plan, a long-term guide for community building and investment in the area. This plan will address key topics such as quality of life, transportation, and land use, ensuring that the West Lake Corridor (to be called the Monon Corridor upon opening for service late this year) enhances the surrounding neighborhood while preserving established character.

As one of four new train stations being constructed as part of the West Lake Corridor project, the South Hammond Station will create new opportunities for the community. At the same time, it is critical that the new station and the traffic it draws don’t jeopardize neighborhood safety and livability. This process will be used to understand neighborhood concerns, prepare for potential issues, and create a tool to be used by City leaders, staff, and property owners as they make decisions for the future
